2018 WWES Fifth Grade Honors Breakfast

On May 4, OBW was priviledged to provide breakfast for the Wildwood Elementary School Fifth Grade Honors breakfast. Along with breakfast, fifth grade honor students were given their awards and certificates by Principal Temple. Here are a few pictures of the event.

The 2017 WWES Supply List

Each year the school puts out a supply list for each grade level and asks the parents to supply these items for the upcoming school year. Often, parents cannot afford the supplies, and even when they can, the school is always in short supply. So we are reaching out to our community for help. Attached is the 2017 WWES Supply list for each grade. If you are able to help supply some of these needs, the school can take your donations around the third week in August.

It’s up to us as a community to come together to support our schools as they educate our children. Thanks for your prayers, support, and donations!

2016 Teacher’s Appreciation Luncheon

IMG_1454It’s that time of year again. School is about to start back. The students at the Wildwood Schools will be returning to the campuses next week. The teachers have already returned.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that schools are part of our larger community.  Through their dedication and hard work, teachers and their support staff provide an immeasurable service to our community.  Teachers put in their best effort to teach their students all that they can.  While these educators play such an important role in the lives of our children, it is our responsibility, as a community, to thank the teachers for their efforts by showing our gratitude and support.

Several years ago, as a way to say “Thank you” to our local educators and their support staff who go the extra mile every day for our children, OBW decided to provide a barbecue lunch before the students’ first day in the classroom. It was a huge success, and so we have done it every year since then. Now that most of the teachers are aware of our luncheon, participation has grown to include almost all of them.

Today was the 2016 Teacher’s appreciation luncheon.  It was truly a fun and uplifting experience.  With the donations of many businesses and churches, and with the help of many volunteers, the luncheon offered delicious food (barbecued pork, cole slaw, & beans), good fellowship, some free items to all who attended, and many gift cards and gift baskets through our free raffle.  It was wonderful to see the happy faces of our teachers as they begin this new school year!

Once again, if you would like to be involved with the efforts of Bless Wildwood, or would like to donate to our organization, please use the contact form at the bottom of any page on this website.

2015 Year In Review

2015 was a busy year for OBW. Here is a quick rundown of our projects and activities in 2015. Our projects basically began at the beginning of the school year, in August.

  • Teacher’s Appreciation
    • At the beginning of the school year, the first week the teachers were back at work, OBW provided a barbecue lunch at the Wildwood Community Center for all of the teachers at WWES and WMHS, as well as the Wildwood Police and Fire Departments. We gave away many gift baskets full of school supplies, gift cards, and other small tokens of our appreciation for the teachers and staff.
    • In December, every teacher at WWES and WMHS was given a small box of Russell Stover candy and a hand-written note of appreciation.
  • School Supplies
    • An email was written to every teacher at WMHS asking for their top 3 needs in their classroom. Around 50% of those needs were met. The needs included things such as pencils, pens, paper, hand sanitizer, stickers, post-its, SD Cards, drumsticks, and hole-punches. There are still many needs in the classrooms. To find out what needs still need to be met, fill out the contact form found on the Home Page.
    • School supplies were supplied for students in August and again in December.
  • School Uniforms
    • Fundraising for school uniforms occurred throughout the year. Hundreds of dollars has been given through OBW to both WWES and WMHS.
  • School Beautification
    • Volunteers came in abundance for the WWES school clean-up and beautification project in August.
  • Cookies for teachers
    • Twice a month (once a month at each school), about 20 dozen homemade cookies are delivered to the teachers.
  • School Field Trips
    • Fundraising for school field trips began in late 2015 and continued through the beginning of march 2016. On March 2, 2016, $2400 was hand-delivered to Mr. Temple, the WWES principal, earmarked for school field trips. This should cover all planned field trips for each grade during the spring of 2016.
    • Wildwood is a Title 1 school, meaning that the school is not allowed (by law) to ask families for money for school field trips. If the money is not donated, they do not go on field trips.

We plan to continue our work in 2016. If you would like to partner with us or donate, please use the contact form on the Home Page.

Christmas 2015 Teacher Appreciation

IMG_0206To remind them that we appreciate everything they do for our children and our community, OBW gave a gift to every single teacher, secretary, custodian, and administrator at all 3 Wildwood Campuses. Each person received a small box of candy and a hand-written Christmas card wishing them a Merry Christmas.

How you can help:

The folks that work at our schools are underpaid and under-appreciated. Please lift them up in prayer on a daily basis. Also, they are always looking for good volunteers at the schools. If you would like to volunteer, drop by one of the schools for a Volunteer Background Screening Form. Give that form and a copy of your Driver’s License to the secretary and he/she will get the ball rolling to get you approved as a school volunteer.
